What is Smithmagic?

Bringing together a set of 6 trades, Smithmagic is the ability toadjust bonuses of its equipment for improve using runes, obtained by smashing.

The 6 professions you will need to be able to take care of your equipment yourself are the following:

Costume, which will allow you to modify capes and headpieces;

Jewelmagus, which will allow you to modify amulets and rings;

Cordomage, which will allow you to modify boots and belts;

Smithmage, which will allow you to modify weapons made by blacksmiths;

Sculptmage, which will allow you to modify weapons made by the sculptors;

Facing, which will allow you to modify shields.

To start Smithmagic, you will need your professions mounted at equipment level that you wish to modify, and you will need to obtain runes.

Obtaining runes

To get started with Smithmagic, you should know that each rune has its own weight, which will never change (subject to future updates). To get them, all you have to do is to break an object that has the characteristics you want, using the crusher below that you will find in particular in the workshops of the forgemages of Bonta or Brakmar.

There are two possible options on the crusher when you break an object, both of which depend on a coefficient calculated according to the number of times that specific object has been broken:

→ the normal brisage which will give you a normal amount of runes of all characteristics the item has;

→ the focus which will focus its breaking on a single rune, to give you a higher than normal amount of it. To focus a rune, choose it from the drop-down menu above the object to be broken in the breaking interface.

Be careful though, smashing involves risks and can sometimes not be profitable. Direct purchase of runes at the Hôtel des Ventes is sure et reliable.

Shattering with focus on the PA rune

It is recommended to use the focus on runes that we want large quantity, and when the other runes potentially obtained with normal breaking are not/of little interest. It can also be model to choose a focus on a rune of a very great value when we know in advance the coefficient of the broken object (by having broken it beforehand, the coefficient will have only slightly decreased), or by breaking blindly (double or quits).

Breaking runes will only bring you basic so-called runes of row 1, you can then transform them, still using the crusher, but this time choosing the Merge resources option: this action does not require any profession. The following proceeds like a normal craft, all the recipes are displayed on the left. Namely: you will need 3 runes of row 1 to get 1 rune of row 2, and 3 runes of row 2 to get a rank 3 rune, so 9 rank 1 runes to get a rank 3 rune. However, not all runes have 3 ranks, some have only 2, while others have only XNUMX.

The nomenclature of the runes is special so that each characteristic has a name to which is added a prefix:

→ the runes of row 1 n'ont no prefix;

→ the prefix Pa represents a rune of row 2;

→ the prefix Ra represents a rune of row 3.

Basic Smithmagic

Balance calculation

When you find yourself face to face with your object, you must know that there is three scenarios when you try to pass a rune:

→ (SC) The critical success, so appreciated by mages, this means that your rune has simply passed;

→ (SN) The neutral success, always good to take, means that your rune passed, but removed something else in passing, in proportion to the weight of the rune attempted;

→ (EC) I'critical failure, unpleasant, announces the failure of your Smithmagic, removes (or not) characteristics in proportion to the weight of the rune attempted.

The weight of the runes is crucial in Smithmagic: when you attempt a rune and there is an SN (neutral success) or CE (critical failure), most of the time other characteristics are removed at the same time. The difference in weight between the attempted rune and the total runes removed corresponds to the remainder your object has. We get the formula below:

Balance = Weight lost - weight used

Dofus: Smithmagic Guide

In the example above, a Pui rune, having a weight of 2, is passed by removing 1 MP whose weight corresponds to 90. According to the formula (Balance = 90 - 2), you have a balance of 88. This balance will allow you to spend the equivalent of 88 of weight in different runes without risking losing anything (unless a characteristic is “over”). So you continue your Smithmagic, remembering to subtract the weight of the rune you just passed if the -reliquat appears in the left interface. Thus, if you attempt a Ra Vi to boost your item by 50 in Vitality, if a SC (critical success) occurs, your residue remains at 88, if an SN occurs (represented by the -reliquat), your residue increases to 78 (88 – 10), and if a CE occurs (represented by the -reliquat and by not passing the rune), your remainder will also be 78 (88 – 10).

Dofus: Smithmagic Guide

In this new example, the Re Per Water rune is passed by removing not only the AP, but also 2 Power. Knowing that the weight of the Ga Pa rune is 100, that the weight of the Pui rune is 2 for 1 power, and that the weight of the Re Per Water rune is 6, we can calculate the remainder of the object like this: Balance = (100 + (2x2)) - 6 = 98. You should also know that, if you put a rune back to raise the fallen PA, if the Ga Pa does not go into SC, you will no longer have this remainder.

Warning: This remainder is only available as long as the object has not been exchanged, put up for sale, in the dragoturkey, etc…

7 tips for getting started

1. The Shortcut Shift + Clic allows you to transfer your entire stock of runes at once: no more slipping of runes, it's a considerable waste of time.

2. Take your time : calculate your balances well, do not go “hard”, it will rarely pass.

3. Tackle easy objects : nothing better than objects with very few lines to learn.

4. Do a lot of smithmagic : from certain thresholds, passing runes can become complicated, in general 20 times the power of the rune (example: the Pa Fo which have a power of 3 will pass correctly up to 20x3 = 60). However, this value may vary a little depending on the equipment, only experience will help you spot these limits quickly.

5. Prioritize high weight runes : do it immediately to prevent a possible remainder which will be used to adjust the low weight runes.

6. The runes passed in malus have a half the weight than those passed as a bonus.

7. Learn from your mistakes : you made a mistake and ruined your balance? Recount, you won't make the mistake next time.

Exotic and overmax Smithmagic

Make an “Over”

Perform a " over » means to increase a characteristic beyond what the basic object gives. Often performed using a remainder to minimize the risks, it is possible to make an over without remainder but in this case, only the chance of making an SC will allow you to remove nothing by passing your rune.

Before embarking on your over, you should know that when you intend to increase a characteristic, the maximum weight on a line is 101 (obviously in the context of an over, if the base object has more than 101 weight on one or more lines, you can modify it normally). You can refer to the Rune Weight Chart If in doubt.

Dofus: Smithmagic Guide

In this example, it is clearly seen that the Vitality has been " over since the item gives up to 400 base Vitality. However, it's not just any over: Vitality is at its maximum attainable since the total row weight is 101 (505 x 0,2).

It is possible to over any characteristic, except the PA, the PM and the PO since, within the framework of an over PA, the weight of the line would be 200, 180 for an over PM, and 102 for an over PO.

"Exo" his equipment

When we speak of exo, it is in generalRal of an exo PA, PM or PO. However, we speak of exo whena new line is added to an object, in addition to those already there. To perform a heavy exo (AP, MP, etc.), all you have to do is modify your item as usual and once the overall roll suits you, you have to pass the rune you want to add as an exo. Let's take a Piloztere Bracelet here, with the following roll:

Let's put it into context: you modified your roll, obtained a remainder with the Range rune, you rolled the Bracelet back to a perfect roll, and you have 3 remainder left. Before attempting your exo PA, you would like to take advantage of the 101 weights to the maximum. Knowing that the AP rune has a weight of 100, you still have the option of adding a rune with a weight of 1. You opt for the Ini rune, giving 10 Initiative. Drawing from this remainder of 3, your rune passes, so you have un exo perfect roll 10 Initiative. Now is the time to try your exo AP but above all, you should know that heavy exos (AP, PM, etc.) have a 1% chance of passing, and only two exits are possible:

SC : 1% luck ;

EC : 99% luck.

So, neutral success does not exist in heavy exo and if you have luck on your side, here's what you could get:

Warning : the overmax and/or exotic Smithmagic is not recommended for beginners, and requires a fairly high base of Kamas/runes. Embark on this adventure with precaution.
