Between wisdom and agility
Starting a game is not necessarily easy if you do it without help. Here is a short but complete guide that will teach you how to properly level your characteristics on Dofus.
If you planned to start your adventure on Dofus, this guide is made for you, as in many MMORPGs you can mount the characteristics of your characters in several ways. Follow this guide to avoid rookie mistakes and leave with peace of mind!

Features, how do they work?
In Dofus, each time your character levels up, you will gain 5 characteristic points, you can distribute these points in 6 different characteristics.
Each characteristic point invested in intelligence, agility, luck and strength characteristics will earn you an initiative point (these points define the order of passage during a fight)
Vitality: 1 point in vitality increases your life points (hp) by 1 (except sacrier 1 characteristic point = 2hp)
Wisdom : 3 characteristic points increases your wisdom by 1. Wisdom increases the xp gained in combat and your chances of removing AP/MP or of dodging an AP/MP removal.
Strength: The ratio of strength per characteristic point depends on your character and your level. Strength increases your earth damage, neutral and increases your pods.
Intelligence : The ratio of intelligence per characteristic point depends on your character and your level. Intelligence increases your fire damage as well as your healing.
Chance : The chance ratio per characteristic point depends on your character and your level. Luck increases your water damage as well as your prospecting (which increases your chance of dropping good items).
Agility: The ratio of agility per characteristic point depends on your character and your level. Agility increases your air damage as well as your chance to hold someone in melee or flee from melee.
Mistakes not to make
Rookie mistakes are common when it comes to leveling up stats in Dofus and there are two very common ones:
- The premiere, the most common is to think that it is judicious to distribute its points everywhere depending on what you want, I know it's tempting to invest a bit in wisdom for faster XP, to take a bit of life here and there but trust me, for now invest it all of your points in a single characteristic.
Example of a bad distribution
- Since update 2.30, all classes have the same characteristic levels (except the Sacriers). The error will therefore no longer be to choose a characteristic with an unprofitable characteristic level, the only possible error is to choose a characteristic for which your character has no spells, or weak spells.

Here are the levels for the strength characteristic of a Xelor. The highlighted cell is the one you are currently in, here my Xelor has between 0 and 100 strength and if I want 1 strength point I will have to invest 1 characteristic point. The box circled in red is reached when you exceed 100 strength, from then on the cost of a point of strength will be 2 characteristic points.
Which characteristic to choose?
The characteristic you choose will depend on your preferences, so I invite you to read all your spells and then choose the characteristic you prefer. But when you start I strongly advise you to choose a characteristic for which the class level corresponds to the first example, or to choose the most advantageous level. Since the number of possible combinations is rather large, do not hesitate to ask for advice in the comments, I will then try to answer you.
Some exceptions
- The Sacriers : In the case of the Sacriers, you will need always increase the vitality since it has a ratio of 1 characteristic point for 2 life points and this without levels from a certain number as for the other classes. In addition, the gameplay of the Sacriers is based on his life.
- The Xelor plays on the withdrawal of Pa from his opponent, but do not invest a point of wisdom if you are a beginner. You will get it later through scrolls and by choosing equipment with a lot of wisdom.
For some classes, one characteristic is very often favored over the others:
- The Eniripsa is often intelligence oriented since it is the healer class of Dofus. It can also be played water in the case of PvP. It's much less played air, but can be when you're just starting out.
- The Enutrof is the looter of Dofus, if you have followed well you must understand me, it is very often played luck although this class diversifies more and more over time.
How to fix mistakes?
Maybe you weren't aware of how you had to level up your characteristics and your character is currently an abomination of nature, but don't panic, Ankama are not stupid, they have thought of different ways to be able to reset their characteristics.
-If you are still below level 30:
There is a free and quick way to reset its characteristics for beginners to help them test out different distributions. So do not hesitate to abuse it in order to find the way you prefer. You can reset your characteristics (and your spells) in front of the incarnam library located at [2,-3] by contacting the NPC "Fée Risette".
-If you are above level 30:
There are still several methods in case you have exceeded lvl 30 but these have a cost:
- At class temple : you can face the dopple by addressing the npc of your class temple whose name ends in -peule. If you win the fight you will earn Doploons and in exchange for some you can reset your characteristics. But be careful, this method can only be used once!
- South Otomai, you can reset your statistics but it is already more complicated, and if you are a beginner you will need help. As long as you stay below level 60, it will only require a dungeon to reset your characteristics, but access to Otomai Island is complicated and if you are able to reach it you are already experienced enough to don't need this guide. But I wanted to point out that this method exists in case you are brave enough to try it.
- Using a restorative orb : There are not 36 ways to get one, there must be a major update on your class so that Ankama gives you one for free in case you no longer like your game mode It is also possible to buy them with real hard cash via the ogrine exchange. It is possible to obtain them through treasure hunts from now on, but you will need luck.
