LEGO Harry Potter review: Years 5-7

LEGO Harry Potter review: Years 5-7LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5 to 7 therefore resumes the story of the adventures of the wizard at the end of the fourth volume. Voldemort is back in flesh and blood, and Harry is about to experience the hardest times of his life. The rest, you know it, and if this is not the case, we can only direct you to the novels of JK Rowling. However, if the last volumes of the saga stand out for their darkness, the adaptation of TT Games is careful not to do so: LEGO games are above all a very big license to which we add a good dose of humor. . As in the first game, the developers have therefore taken certain narrative liberties with the plot of the films and books, to keep a fun side which is the hallmark of the series. The cutscenes, too short, are always full of gags, and the absence of dialogue further reinforces this aspect of silent comedy. However, this is not really a guarantee of readability. Fans should find their way there (and again), but those who don't know the Harry Potter universe (if such creatures still exist) may well find themselves in the narration devoid of any textual explanation . We barely manage to situate ourselves in history or even in Hogwarts castle! TT Games therefore does not change anything on this side compared to Years 1 to 4. The graphics engine is also always the same and we can deplore the fact that fewer and fewer elements are made of LEGO. We end up with typical LEGO characters in the middle of realistic levels. Too bad especially since the rendering is really not bad...

Harry Potted

LEGO Harry Potter review: Years 5-7The gameplay also leaves the player on familiar ground. Those who had tried the first opus will not be disoriented, far from it. The player always directs one of the heroes imposed by the scenario in each of the game levels, obviously corresponding to the events described in the books. Navigating through Hogwarts, in a relatively free way, will allow you to achieve your various objectives, like a hub. Most of the progress is made by solving puzzles, which often boil down to finding one or more objects in the decor. At first, this mechanism is quite attractive: many elements are interactive and we take pleasure in waking up the armor and lighting the torches. But the destructible parts of the environment don't stand out enough from the background. And so we often find ourselves sending spells completely at random, just to explode everything and see things more clearly! It even happens that we turn for long minutes before finally locating the part necessary to move forward. The more than mediocre aim does not make the task much easier: touching a small object with a spell is a real pain. Destroying the scenery, bringing together certain bricks, putting them together using magic and placing them in the right place: this is what you will spend most of your time in LEGO Harry Potter. In addition to gleaning the many coins that are used to buy bonuses. The duel fights could have spiced things up, but they are rather rare before the last hours of the game and the confrontation system is far too simplistic to arouse long-term interest. Quidditch, a violent sport that is practiced on broomsticks, is also completely absent from the app. A somewhat demanding player will therefore quickly get bored. But if the above-named player has a friend dedicated enough to support him, the adventure will become fun enough to be experienced, especially since the second participant can join the game at any time. In addition, the challenge offered by the vast content of the title will be able to retain the relentless of the trophy and success. It is on Diagon Alley that you will spend your LEGO coins to unlock new characters (a hundred, from the main to the most secondary) or around twenty spells. You can then replay levels with different protagonists with varying abilities.
