Reaching the New Softcap | 1200 PL

The “softcap” is the power level you can achieve simply by leveling up and completing quests. The softcap is currently 1200 PL. As you level up, you will find better gear of better quality – the higher your level, the better the power level gear will be.

This is the easy part when it comes to grinding – any activity will reward you with XP, but there are ways to earn XP faster.

Go to the tower and collect your artifact for this season as soon as possible. The artifact is a special item that functions as a Battle pass. You can unlock levels for free or purchase (with real money) to unlock bonus levels, and a special box that gives you instant Grand boost d’EXP.

• Methods to gain XP faster
  • Buy it Pass S12 to earn a big free XP boost. Level up the artifact to earn more rewards.
  • Upgrading the Artifact will give you a " shared wisdom”Buff – the longer you complete the season, the better this buff becomes. This buff increases the XP of all members of your fireteam – so join friends with this buff to instantly gain more XP.
  • Fully upgrade your Ghost in Masterwork to earn a +10-12% permanent EXP boost.

The Masterwork Ghost can have additional perks that increase the amount of Legendary drops you find by doing activities. Not useful for gaining XP, but will be useful for hardcap.

If you are looking for a easy PL strategy, try to hunt the wanted enemies. They will always drop Legendary Weapons – guaranteed.

• How to easily grind PL | 1200 or below PL Agriculture
  • Travel to EDZ. and enter it Lost Sectors here Any of them will work. the Widow's Walk in consolation country is the shortest.
  • Regular enemies that spawn in EDZ Lost Sectors are easy, but the boss is considered a " powerful group » enemy.
  • The boss is going always drop legendary loot which is guaranteed to increase your PL up to 1200.

This is easy to do solo, can be completed in under 60 seconds per run, and you'll also have a chance to do lots of rare drops that will also increase your PL while grinding softcap.

Upgrade to Hardcap | 1200 to 1250 PL

At 1200 LP, you will no longer be able to increase your power level with the standard methods from before. Random drops and standard quest rewards DO NOT increase your PL beyond 1200. This is where increasing your PL gets tricky – and you will need at least 1230 PL to enter the new Beyond Light raid.

XP n’a plus d’importance. At this point you will need to unlock specific rewards that drop slightly higher PL gear. Reaching the softcap is child's play. Sharpening even a few PL above 1200 can be difficult.

• How To Level Up Softcap | 1200+ PL
  • The only way to earn high PL is with powerful group drops and Apex drops.
  • Check the directory to find the activities that will reward you Powerful / Pinnacle drops.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Random enemies now go drop legendary loot at your average LP. It won't be higher, but there's a chance it will match even beyond 1200+. This is very, very important for grinding - if you have a lot of loot that's lowering your average, you can complete Lost Sectors or any other standard softcap activity to help even out your PL.

More Hardcap PL Tips | Using Season Pass Tiers and Competitive PvP

Your Infamy Rank in Gambits (both Standard and Competitive) will drop powerful group gear as you reach each level of progression. You can now earn several powerful drops as a one-time reward for completing certain activities and increasing your levels.

PSA: If you're just starting Beyond Light, I highly recommend waiting until 1200 and then playing a few games of Gambit/Crucible on Competitive and Normal. Just winning the first few levels will get you ridiculous rewards.

You can also use the season pass to improve your PL. As you complete reward tiers, you'll be able to select the items you want - don't worry about deleting anything before 1200+ PL. Although these items are no higher than your current average PL, they WILL corresponds to your current average PL.

• How Season Drops Work: You can use the Season Pass to replace any items you have equipped that are holding you back – if you are at 1220 PL and your boots are at 1205, you can select a Season Pass starter drop to instantly earn boots from 1220 PL.

These are the basics to level up 1230+ PL in the Beyond Light expansion. As you can see, the grind is a bit easier this time around. You can use random enemies and standard activities to give yourself a quick boost, but you'll still need to focus on the important Mighty and Pinnacle rewards you'll find in the Director menu.
