Merger of PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now what changes for players

Sony recently formalized the merger of PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now (which was codenamed Spartacus), the transition will be done in stages worldwide with a deployment planned for the year 2022 in Spain. New formulas will therefore be offered to players with new fee schedules. "PlayStation Plus Essential", "Playstation Plus Extra" and "Playstation Plus Premium", here are the three subscription levels that will soon be offered on the PS4 & PS5 game consoles. Find out what's changing and what's new in these subscriptions arriving in June.

For those who are afraid to see the service evolve, you have to keep two or three things in mind! First of all, the Sony teams ensure that the migration of the players' subscription will be to an equivalent formula. Thus, the price and the payment deadlines will therefore remain the same, you will automatically migrate to the "PlayStation Plus Essential" formula if you only have an active PS Plus subscription. However, you must check that your subscription does not expire before the launch of the new service. If this is the case, you will most certainly have to re-subscribe by selecting the formula adapted to your needs.

What are the changes and new features of the merger of PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now services:

Players will therefore soon be able to choose between three types of formulas. The first level does not include any change for players who already have an active PlayStation Plus subscription, they will simply migrate to the “Essential” formula. Those who expect more from the service can upgrade their subscription to the “Extra” and “Premium” levels. The extra formula will offer subscribers a catalog of more than 400 of the best games released on PS4 and PS5 that can be downloaded and played on PlayStation consoles even while offline.

The "Premium" formula goes even further by offering a catalog of PS3 games playable via streaming as well as PS1, PS2 and PSP games which can be downloaded directly to the console's local storage if necessary. Here is a summary of these three new formulas of the "Spartacus" offer which is a merger of PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now.
